/ וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת יְיָ אֱלֹהֶיךָ V'ahav'ta et Adonai Elohecha And you will love Adonai your God /
/ בְּכׇל־לְבָבְךָ b'chol l'vav'cha with all your heart /
/ וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁךָ uv'chol naf'sh'cha and with all your soul /
/ וּבְכׇל־מְאֹדֶךָ uv'chol m'odecha and with all your might /
/ /
/ וְהָיוּ הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה V'hayu had'varim ha'eleh And they will bethese words /
/ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיֹּום asher anochi m'tzav'cha hayom which I command you this day /
/ עַל־לְבָבֶךָ al l'vavecha in your heart /
/ /
/ וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ V'shinan'tam l'vanecha And you will repeat them for your children /
/ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם v'dibar'ta bam and you will talk of them /
/ בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ b'shiv't'cha b'veitecha when you sit yourself down in your house /
/ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ uv'lech't'cha vaderech and when you walk yourself down a path /
/ וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ uv'shach'b'cha and when you lie yourself down /
/ וּבְקוּמֶךָ uv'kumecha and when you rise yourself up /
/ /
/ וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאֹות Uk'shar'tam l'ot And you will bind them as a sign /
/ עַל־יָדֶךָ al yadecha on your hand /
/ וְהָיוּ לְטֹטָפֹת v'hayu l'totafot and they will be as totafot /
/ בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ bein einecha between your eyes /
/ /
/ וּכְתַבְתָּם Uch'tav'tam And you will write them /
/ עַל־מְזוּזֹת בֵּיתֶךָ al m'zuzot beitecha on the doorposts of your house /
/ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ uvish'arecha and in your gates /
/ /
/ /
/ /
/ וְהָיָה V'hayah And it will be /
/ אִם־שָׁמֹעַ תִּשְׁמְעוּ אֶל־מִצְוֹתַי im shamoa tish'm'u el mitz'otai if you all truly hear my commandments /
/ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיֹּום asher anochi m'tzav'cha hayom which I command you this day: /
/ לְאַהֲבָה אֶת־יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם l'ahavah et Adonai Eloheichem to love Adonai your God /
/ וּלְעָבְדֹו בְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶם ul'av'do b'chol l'vav'chem and to serve him with all your hearts /
/ וּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁכֶם uv'chol naf'sh'chem and with all your souls /
/ /
/ וְנָתַתִּי מְטַר־אַרְצְכֶם בְּעִתֹּו V'natati m'tar ar'tz'chem b'ito That I give rain to your land in its season, /
/ יֹורֶה וּמַלְקֹושׁ yoreh umal'kosh autumn rain and spring rain, /
/ וְאָסַפְתָּ דְגָנֶךָ v'asaf'ta d'ganecha and you will gather your grain /
/ וְתִירֹשְׁךָ v'tirosh'cha and your wine /
/ וְיִצְהָרֶךָ v'yitz'harecha and your oil /
/ /
/ וְנָתַתִּי עֵשֶׂב בְּשָׂדְךָ V'natati esev b'sad'cha That I give grass to your fields /
/ לִבְהֶמְתֶּךָ liv'hem'techa for your livestock, /
/ וְאָכַלְתָּ וְשָׂבָעְתָּ v'achal'ta v'sava''ta and you will eat and be full /
/ /
/ הִשָּׁמְרוּ לָכֶם Hisham'ru lachem For you all, watch yourselves /
/ פֶּן יִפְתֶּה לְבַבְכֶם pen yif'teh l'vav'chem lest your hearts be deceived /
/ וְסַרְתֶּם v'sar'tem and you turn away /
/ וַעֲבַדְתֶּם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים va'avad'tem elohim acherim and you serve other gods /
/ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶם לָהֶם v'hish'tachavitem lahem and throw yourselves down before them /
/ /
/ וְחָרָה אַף־יְיָ בָּכֶם v'charah af Adonai bachem and the anger of Adonai burn against you all /
/ וְעָצַר אֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִם v'atzar et hashamayim and He hold back the heavens /
/ וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה מָטָר v'lo yih'yeh matar and there be no rain /
/ וְהָאֲדָמָה לֹא תִתֵּן אֶת־יְבוּלָהּ v'ha'adamah lo titen et y'vulah and the soil give none of its fruit /
/ וַאֲבַדְתֶּם מְהֵרָה va'avad'tem m'herah and you all swiftly disappear /
/ מֵעַל הָאָרֶץ הַטֹּבָה me'al ha'aretz hatovah from the good land /
/ אֲשֶׁר יְיָ נֹתֵן לָכֶם asher Adonai noten lachem which Adonai gave to you /
/ /
/ וְשַׂמְתֶּם V'sam'tem So you will set /
/ אֶת־דְּבָרַי אֵלֶּה עַל־לְבַבְכֶם et d'varai eleh al l'vav'chem these words of mine in your hearts /
/ וְעַל־נַפְשְׁכֶם v'al naf'sh'chem and in your souls /
/ וּקְשַׁרְתֶּם אֹתָם לְאֹות uk'shar'tem otam l'ot and you will bind them as signs /
/ עַל־יֶדְכֶם al yed'chem on your hands /
/ וְהָיוּ לְטֹוטָפֹת v'hayu l'totafot and they will be as totafot /
/ בֵּין עֵינֵיכֶם bein eineichem between your eyes /
/ /
/ וְלִמַּדְתֶּם אֹתָם אֶת־בְּנֵיכֶם V'limad'tem otam et b'neichem And you will teach them to your children /
/ לְדַבֵּר בָּם l'daber bam to talk of them /
/ בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ b'shiv't'cha b'veitecha when you sit yourself down in your house /
/ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ uv'lech't'cha vaderech and when you walk yourself down a path /
/ וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ uv'shach'b'cha and when you lie yourself down /
/ וּבְקוּמֶךָ uv'kumecha and when you rise yourself up /
/ /
/ וּכְתַבְתָּם Uch'tav'tam And you will write them /

/ לְמַעַן יִרְבּוּ L'ma'an yir'bu So that they will be made as plenty /
/ יְמֵיכֶם y'meichem the days of you all /
/ וִימֵי בְנֵיכֶם vimei v'neichem and the days of the children of you all /
/ עַל הָאֲדָמָה al ha'adamah on the soil /
/ אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְיָ asher nish'ba Adonai which Adonai swore /
/ לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם לָתֵת לָהֶם la'avoteichem latet lahem to your ancestors to give to them /
/ כִּימֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם עַל־הָאָרֶץ kimei hashamayim al ha'aretz as the days of the heavens over the earth /
/ /

/ /
/ וַיֹּאמֶר יְיָ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר Vayomer Adonai el mosheh lemor: And Adonai said to Moses, saying: /
/ /
/ דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל Daber el b'nei Yisrael Speak to the children of Yisrael /
/ וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם v'amar'ta alehem and say to them /
/ וְעָשׂוּ לָהֶם צִיצִת v'asu lahem tzitzit that they will make themselves tzitzit /
/ עַל־כַּנְפֵי בִגְדֵיהֶם al kan'fei vig'deihem on the wings of their clothes /
/ לְדֹרֹתָם l'dorotam throughout their generations /
/ וְנָתְנוּ עַל־צִיצִת הַכָּנָף v'nat'nu al tzitzit hakanaf and they will put on the tzitzit of the wing /
/ פְּתִיל תְּכֵלֶת p'til t'chelet a twist of t'chelet /
/ /
/ וְהָיָה לָכֶם לְצִיצִת V'hayah lachem l'tzitzit And they will be to you as tzitzit /
/ וּרְאִיתֶם אֹתֹו וּזְכַרְתֶּם ur'item oto uz'char'tem and you will see it and remember /
/ אֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֹת יְיָ et kol mitz'ot Adonai all the commandments of Adonai /
/ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם va'asitem otam and do them /
/ וְלֹא־תָתֻרוּ אַחֲרֵי לְבַבְכֶם v'lo taturu acharei l'vav'chem and not wander after your hearts /
/ וְאַחֲרֵי עֵינֵיכֶם v'acharei eineichem and after your eyes /
/ אֲשֶׁר־אַתֶּם זֹנִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם asher atem zonim achareihem from which you lust after others /
/ /
/ לְמַעַן תִּזְכְּרוּ L'ma'an tiz'k'ru So that you will remember /
/ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת־כׇּל־מִצְוֹתָי va'asitem et kol mitz'otai and do all my commandments /
/ וִהְיִיתֶם קְדֹשִׁים לֵאלֹהֵיכֶם vih'yitem k'doshim lEloheichem and will be holy to your God /
/ /
/ אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם Ani Adonai Eloheichem I am Adonai your God /
/ אֲשֶׁר הֹוצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם asher hotzeti et'chem who brought you all /
/ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם me'eretz mitz'rayim from the land of Egypt /
/ לִהְיֹות לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים lih'yot lachem lElohim to be your God /
/ אֲנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם ani Adonai Eloheichem I am Adonai your God /
/ /
/ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֱמֶת Adonai Eloheichem emet Adonai your God is true /

Translation Notes

Three words are left untranslated here: טֹטָפֹת (totafot), צִיצִת (tzitzit), and תְּכֵלֶת (t'chelet).

The rabbinic additions to this prayer are based on Psalm 72:19 for the lines starting with בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם (baruch shem) and Jeremiah 10:10 for the final line ending with אֱמֶת (emet). These are shown in small type.
