/ כִּי הוּא יוֹם תְּחִלָּה ki hu yom t'chilah For it is the first day /
/ לְמִקְרָאֵי קֹדֶשׁ l'mik'ra'ei kodesh out of all those made holy: /
/ זֵכֶר לִיצִיאַת מִצְרָיִם zecher litzi'at mitz'rayim a memorial to the Exodus from Egypt /

/ כִּי בָנוּ בָחַרְתָּ ki vanu vachar'ta For you chose us /
/ הִנְחִילָנוּ hin'chilanu He made our inheritance /
